DESCRIPTION:
APW - Waltham, US Army Air Corps Vanguard GCT Navigation Watch Type A-6 with winding indicator, 16S, CPBM OF original case with contract markings on back, SW-SS, rare black dial marked GCT (Greenwich Civil Time) with sunken seconds and WI, enameled white graphics, white hands, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, 23J 5P, GJS, GCW, checkerboard center pattern NI damascene with wave surrounds, s#27443970, marked "US Army AC" on front plate near balance. This very scarce 1930's military timepiece has case-back marked with unusual term "Avigation," a blend of the words aviation and navigation.
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, near mint mvt condition overall, spot of oxide on regulator clip; dial near mint; hands excellent, slightly discolored; case shows little wear, complete plating, profuse MFS, no dents or dings, fairly sharp knurled detail with fully visible contract markings; bow pivots freely, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
